From the headlands either side of the beach you gain stunning mountain views to the south. The northern half of the bay contrasts with its neighbour comprises layers of sloping rock strata and stone. This, and the rocks of the headlands either side of the sandy beach, make Clachtoll a renowned spot for geologists, and you are as likely to see visitors heading for the beach with helmets and geologists' hammers as with flippers and snorkels..

A short walk down the narrow wooded lane from Ómarach is Loch Roe and with a resident Seal colony, on a still day you can here them calling from the house, there is a bridge over the river in to the loch and 5 mins further is Loch Dubh, a beautiful loch with a waterfall, lovely for picnic and a swim on a hot day.
